Beginner calligraphers always ask me about flourishing. Once you have a good skill set and can write words with a brush pen, then adding flourishing will make your lettering beautiful and special.
It’s easier than you think! First, it’s best to use a pencil to practice your skills. You can save your brush pens and build up muscle memory with a pencil.
When I practice flourishing with a brush pen, I use my Kelly Creates Multicolor Small Brush pens. I find it easier to flourish with small brush tips. I also like the Kelly Creates Dotted practice paper for practicing flourishing. The dots help me keep track of the shapes of my flourishes whereas my grid paper would be too ‘busy.’
Here is my YouTube tutorial where I show you 3 ways to flourish a name. Enjoy!
