I needed to paint something bright and fresh today, so I pulled out my Yellow Kelly Creates Watercolor Ink. This Deep Yellow Ink is so vibrant and can be diluted with water to produce a HUGE range of hues.
I was tempted to add in some Orange Watercolor Ink but decided not to. When I finished lettering, I felt some outlining would really make it pop. Sometimes with Yellow, the edges can disappear.
I used my Kelly Creates Black Fineliner 01 to outline. Remember, to start and stop at intersecting parts of the letters…and it doesn’t have to be perfect. I love how it turned out!
The Deep Yellow Watercolor Ink is found in Set 1 of the “Warm” colours.
I used my Size 2 lettering brush, daisy palette, and Canson 140 lb cold pressed watercolor paper.
To practice painting letters freehand, use the heavyweight smooth Kelly Creates Grid Paper pad. (Never practice on blank paper).
To learn more about watercolor lettering, read my book The Art of Watercolor Lettering and use my workbooks, inks and supplies from KellyCreatesStore.com.
