Do you live close to the ocean? I hope to some day. I came across this wonderful hand lettered quote and thought I would try painting this design with my watercolour inks.
I used Kelly Creates Teal and Blue watercolor inks for the “Saltwater” and ocean waves. Of course I had to paint the word “Sunsets” and the sun outline with Poppy, Orange and Yellow.
I love how it turned out! Maybe next time I would dilute the Red ink more or just use Yellow and Orange inks so the values match the Teal and Blue blend.
I used my Size 2 lettering brush, daisy palette, and Canson 140 lb cold pressed watercolor paper.
To practice painting letters freehand, use the heavyweight smooth Kelly Creates Grid Paper pad. (Never practice on blank paper).
