Did you know I have a Facebook group called “Kelly Creates Free Online Classes” ? Last weekend I taught 3 different Halloween designs and this “Hocus Pocus” lettering was one of them.
Using my Kelly Creates Violet and Orange Watercolor Inks, palette and size 2 lettering brush, I painted the words “Hocus Pocus.”
Then I added spider webs in 2 different ways: first as a background and also inside letters.
The spider web background was drawn with my 1.0 Black Fineliner, but I think a smaller tip with finer lines would work better and allow the lettering to be more prominent. I wanted the letters to be more dimensional, so I drew drop shadows with my Kelly Creates Stone (Grey) Dream Pen. I also drew along the inside edges of each letter with my white Uniball Signo pen.
You could also draw these letters with brush pens. I decided to write “Hocus Pocus” with my Kelly Creates Amethyst and Emerald Jewel Brush pens on Kelly Creates black paper with some white Uniball Signo spider webs and this turned out really cool too!
You can watch this YouTube video tutorial that shows how I created these Halloween Hocus Pocus designs.
