Today on the blog, Bonnie Peters ( @diamondandwillow ) is sharing a colourful botanical envelope art and stationery design tutorial.
SUPPLIES from the Kelly Creates Hand Lettering product line:
Tracing Paper Pad – design work
Project Pad: Silky Smooth White Cardstock – envelope
Blank Practice pad– design and stationary
Dream Pens
Multicolor Small Brush Pens
Metallic Jewel Brush pens
Multicolor and Black Fineliners
You can use a ready made envelope, but I found an envelope template online, printed it out and cut out my own envelope using Kelly Creates white card stock from the Project pad, which has black, Kraft and white coloured silky smooth card stock that is brush pen friendly.
I drew a rough sketch on a piece of Kelly Creates Blank Practice paper first so I could play with the design and layout, and I did another one on tracing paper to play with some colour combos.
I positioned a banner onto the envelope front for the address to be written and from there, added some simple potted plants.
Once I was happy with the layout, I used a light box to lightly pencil in my sketch.
You can also use a window in the same way.
Using a variety of Kelly Creates brush pens and Fineliners, I filled in the design.
I decided to make some matching stationery to spark some ideas for you. Using the Kelly Creates Blank Practice pad, I drew a simple plant onto each piece of stationary with similar designs already created for the envelope to continue the botanical theme. You can then customize the lettering in any way you like. Hello beautiful…Thinking of you…Just a note…Missing you…
Everyone loves to receive a handwritten note. Imagine the delight to find such a personalized envelope in their mail box. Send someone a smile today.
