Today Rose K. (@littlemissrose) is sharing a tutorial on how to design a simple wreath to use for your journal, planner, cards and more.
This simple wreath can created for any project. In this tutorial I’ve used it for a Hello Page in my bullet journal. Hello pages in journaling or planning start off a new section in your notebook, such as a new month or year. A wreath could also be a decorative quote in your journal, or on a handmade greeting card.
SUPPLIES: Kelly Creates Deluxe Lettering kit, Black Fineliners set, Dream Pens.
STEP 1: With a pencil, draw a large circle in the center of your page. You can trace around a compass, circle maker or even a bowl or plate. Then draft your lettering within the circle. I’ve used a pencil from Kelly’s Deluxe Lettering kit.
Step 2: Add color to your lettering within the circle with a Kelly Creates Dream Pen. I’ve used the large tip of a Kelly Creates Dream Pen in Turquoise to brush letter the month. I simply inked in the word “hello” with a Kelly Creates black fine liner size 05.
You can add interest to your brush lettering by using a Kelly Creates black fine liner to outline the lettering and to also add a simple drop shadow.
STEP 3: Using a Kelly Creates black fine liner, draw 4 or 5 free-hand circles around your lettering using the pencil circle as a guide. You are going for a rough and rustic looks so don’t worry if your circles are not perfect.
STEP 4: With your Kelly Creates Black fine liner, draw leaves and berries on one side of the wreath. It doesn’t matter which side; the choice is yours. Try to have the leaves increase in size from top to bottom, so smaller leaves at the top and larger ones at the bottom.
STEP 5: Finally add details to your leaves by filling in with lines. I used the Kelly Creates finest black fine liner which is a size 001, then I colored in the berries with the Kelly Creates Dream Pen in Lilac. Erase any pencil marks and you’re done!
