Learn watercolor brush lettering by using the tracing guides on these practice worksheets!

Description

Let your creativity flow with the beauty of watercolor paint and brush lettering! Using watercolor for brush script is a joyful experience that you will truly love. You don’t have to be an artist or even have any knowledge of watercolor or painting to use these worksheets and learn brush lettering!   With watercolor lettering skills, you can make beautiful DIY projects for your home, like framed quotes, family name plates, baby room decor….the ideas are endless! Watercolor can be dreamy and soft or vibrant and fresh…so you can create lettering for virtually any theme or mood.

No experience is necessary to play with watercolors and trace these letters. This all-inclusive set has drills to help you achieve thin and thick lines and learn the complete lowercase alphabet a to z, PLUS Review sheets, extra blank practice sheets, 20 Helpful Tips, and an Info sheet of supplies and products. This is my biggest worksheet set yet with a total of 55 pages!

The playful, relaxed style of watercolor brush lettering allows you to break a few calligraphy rules but still create beautiful letters. This watercolour alphabet has more loops and curves with an upright angle, resulting in a whimsical appearance.

This set of worksheets was designed with a Round 2 Watercolor brush and liquid Ecoline watercolor. Letters can be traced with a range of brushes from 0 to Round 4…the size of the brush will determine the thickness of the downstrokes. Keep in mind, not all brushes are created equal for watercolor brush lettering. The brush has to be ‘springy’ and have a strong flex to transition between those thin and thick strokes. As well, fine or medium water brushes can also be used. Any type of watercolor paint, even cheap children’s brands and student grade tubes and pans, will work for tracing. And the best news…these worksheets can be printed on regular copy paper! You can paint with watercolor and trace the letters right onto plain copy paper and save the more expensive watercolor paper for special practice and planned projects.

SUPPLIES: Many lettering artists use a water brush with watercolors, but I also use a Round 1 or 2 brush as well. There are numerous brands of brushes that are suitable for brush lettering with watercolors. My top recommendations are the Sakura Koi water brush (small or medium tip) and the Winsor Newton Cotman Round 2 watercolor brush.

There are 3 types of watercolor paints and many, many brands: pans, tubes and liquid. For watercolor paint, my top recommendations are the liquid watercolors: Dr. Ph Martins Hydrus or Radiant, and I also love Ecoline liquid watercolors (both of which you will use with a plastic palette AND dilute with water) . Another easy-to-use alternative are water brushes filled with liquid watercolor, such as the Jane Davenport “Mermaid Markers” from American Crafts.
