December 11, 2017 at 7:31 pm (7 years ago)I love the Christmas Eve tradition our little family has. Being an American expat in Sydney, Australia, I have to find special ways to make a blistering summer feel magical and christmasy…so we make s’mores, roasted marshmallows and all, and each choose one present to open from under the tree. 🙂 And it is magical! Xx

December 11, 2017 at 7:20 pm (7 years ago)My favorite tradition handed down only 2 generations but so much fun and love put into it every year… Personal, not personalized but specific, hunted for ornaments for each of my kids! That way when they move out they have a treasure box of growing up ornaments that represent something special about their childhood! One example…my youngest was only a few months old when the movie Happy Feet came out, by the age of 16 months he couldn’t get enough of it so for his 2nd Christmas I found him a dancing Mumble…to this day age 11 it is one of his faves and it represents so much of who he is…

December 11, 2017 at 7:21 pm (7 years ago)Every year, since I was a child, we have always dressed up and gone to my grandma’s house on Christmas Eve. We would spend time with family, eat amazing food, and open a few presents early. I was (and still am) always in charge of passing out the presents. We would drive around and look at all the beautiful Christmas lights and decorations. When we would get home (to my parents house) that night, we would leave out cookies and milk for santa. Christmas morning, I make cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate with my mom and we open presents in our pjs. Then we have a nice relaxing day spending time with all our family.
This year is extra special because I am bringing my fiancé home to celebrate with us. It is the first year him and I get to celebrate together and the first year I can share my childhood memories with him. I’m so excited.

December 11, 2017 at 7:23 pm (7 years ago)As my children grew to adulthood I struggled to find a way to keep the child in them alive. For the last 5 or so years we each don a Santa hat while I set up my tripod and set the camera timer to continuous shoot. Initially I thought this would be a nice way to document each Christmas as the years flew by. What I didn’t expect was that my kids (ages 30 and 33) still have quite a bit of the child they used to be inside! They always find a way with their antics to make each “photo shoot” special. It’s a day full of laughter and shenanigans that we look forward to every year!

Thank you for the chance to win your awesome products.. can’t wait to get some of my own!!

December 11, 2017 at 8:19 pm (7 years ago)We keep a family journal that we write in once a year on Christmas. Everyone who attends our big family celebration contributes, even the little one who draw or scribble. The one rule is we like everyone to at least sign in, and then they can write about thoughts, prayers, milestones, losses, thoughts…anything at all.

December 11, 2017 at 8:19 pm (7 years ago)It’s really hard to pick just one. But I would have to say my favorite Christmas tradition is putting up the Christmas tree. Our tree was never themed or a certain color scheme. We always had a hodgepodge themed tree, so it was always fun pulling ornaments out of the Christmas box. I love the feeling you get when unwrapping each ornament one by one. That nostalgic feeling is the best!

December 11, 2017 at 8:20 pm (7 years ago)Hi Kelly!
As a muslim, I don’t celebrate Christmas personally, but it’s important for people to acknowledge and understand that everyone has a different background and lifestyle hence why there are some Muslims who celebrate Christmas and some who don’t. Whether a Muslim celebrates Christmas or not doesn’t really bother me – I’m too worried about my own life!
On Christmas holidays, I don’t really do anything. It’s not too different to a normal day. If anything, we either see family or make the most of the classic Christmas movies that come on TV! I speak on behalf of many when I say that it’s not only frustrating but also upsetting when people make an assumption that I’ll be against a festive holiday because of my own beliefs. Christmas is a wonderful time of the year – decorations lace neighbourhoods and cities, and the cold weather in conjunction with the warm spirit of people who have come together to celebrate is such a beautiful thing to witness.
Although I don’t celebrate Christmas, I still love the atmosphere and appreciate it. Especially on the gifts exchange part and dinner gatherings among my close friends who celebrate Christmas.

December 11, 2017 at 8:29 pm (7 years ago)I’m from Philippines but i’m working in Japan for 3years. My husband is also working here in Japan for more than 10years. We have a daughter and She’s in Philippines right now. I left her when she was 6months old and went back here in Japan for work. Now this Christmas season, I and my husband will be going home in the Philippines for a very long time because we want to celebrate Christmas with our family especially with our daughter. The feeling of celebrating Christmas here in Japan is different when we’re in the Philippines. Our hearts and happiness will always be in our homecountry most especially when celebrating Christmas season. And we’re very excited to go home very soon. ?

December 11, 2017 at 8:33 pm (7 years ago)I love driving around all of the suburbs of Adelaide on Christmas eve checking out all of the stunning Christmas lights and displays at peoples homes. Some people have their whole garden covered in lights and displays, while others have fewer lights but still alot of effort had gone into them. I try to leave a little money where we stop to help them pay for their display. Some streets have every house lit up like Christmas Tree, lol. It’s great to park the car, get out and talk to these people and spread a little Christmas cheer. Thanks for a fabulous giveaway.

I get to hang my favorite decorations as we reminisce about the memories that each ornament brings back. It’s quality family time around the holidays even if the movie isn’t festive itself it doesn’t feel like Christmas until we’ve watched it 🙂

Every year though we pick family names then everyone gets $1 to go to the dollar store and pick something out for them. It seems silly but the little kids pick the most thoughtful gifts! An example being a bottle of vanilla because they overheard my mom saying she ran out. Seriously, so adorable!

December 11, 2017 at 9:13 pm (7 years ago)My favorite Christmas Tradition since having a family of my own, (beginning 5 years ago), and becoming a wife 7 years ago has to be putting on matching Christmas PJs on Christmas Eve, my children waking up super early in the morning waking my husband and I up to run downstairs and check to see what ‘Santa’ has brought. My son is 4 (soon to be 5 on the 20th) and my daughter is 1 ( 2 in feb), and this is actually the first year where I won’t be putting the gifts under the tree until Christmas Eve night after they fall asleep. I really want this year to be super special for them. I love being able to create my own tradition with my own little family now. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.

December 11, 2017 at 9:56 pm (7 years ago)My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the tree. We have collected many ornaments over the years (and on various vacations) and it is like taking a trip down memory lane. Some ornaments may have great stories of how they were acquired, some are just silly gifts from white elephant parties, some from our own childhood, and some remind us of a family member that handmade them. We also get new ornaments each year to add to our collection that was something special to us that year. It is such a beautiful tradition and such fun!

December 11, 2017 at 10:00 pm (7 years ago)I loved growing up the codes. My brothers would unwrap and rewrap them when they were little. Christmas morning we would get the key to be able to sort them.

December 11, 2017 at 10:26 pm (7 years ago)Where can I start? I was born in Argentina, lived there nearly 15 years so I have my summer traditions of a slow cooked pork on the BBQ by Dad and Grandpa (mouth watering!) I loved seeing my grandparents all together, then spending the night with my sisters trying to find Santa in the garden hiding until we went bed…
Then we moved to Spain, and Christmas wasn’t a thing there. At least not where we lived. So I would drive around for hours with my parents trying to find a Christmas tree. I got better as years went by and is now widely celebrated. As kids it felt like an adventure and almost prohibited. But our neighbours where pretty interested. Some year we would celebrated in Germany with family and that was beautiful. Snowing, lots of cholocaltes, fireworks. That was like a dream! I will always cherish those memories.
Now I’m a grown up woman, living in Australia, celebrating my partners family’s way.. and what a way! My father-in-law is a Christmas addict. He spends weeks decorating the front yard, inside, etc. You can see his house from the distances at night as it’s like a huge lightbulb. And he puts music too. Then he gets a lot of people going to see it. Adding he fact that his birthday is on the 23rd, it becomes a feast from the 23rd to 26th with boxing day.. and why not continue until New year. You end up getting a few kilos on.

I live far to my family and during the christmas we can finally be together. When i was a child my favourite tradition was to decorete our huge christmas tree with my sister, now my favourite christmas tradition is absolutly to stay with my family around the fireplace after the christmas lunch to talk and play a table game together.

December 12, 2017 at 2:03 am (7 years ago)A Christmas tradition my family have celebrated is one that started when my grandparents were still with us(God rest their souls). My grandmother would cook up some fried noodles just before midnight on Christmas Eve and when the clock struck twelve, everyone (mainly the children) would get to choose one gift to open. Once everyone got a chance to open their one gift, we would gather together while my grandmother served up her most awesome fried noodles. It really was the best time of the year because it was those precious hours we spent together just enjoying each other’s company not worrying about any problems or fuss.

December 12, 2017 at 3:29 am (7 years ago)My favorite tradition is selecting a surprise person from our lives (outside the family) and everyone in my family buys a gift for them. We try to pick someone that has had a hard time, like a single mom that never gets presents herself because she buys for her kids all the time or pays bills. We try to do this as anonymously as possible. They are usually not terribly expensive presents but like a gift card for their favorite restaurant or some new shoes. It’s fun to try to spread some cheer that is unexpected and reminds us to keep the Christmas cheer mindset.
Kathy

December 12, 2017 at 3:36 am (7 years ago)We have so many! But my favorite is probably that we always decorate the tree as a family. Each one of my children hangs all their own ornaments they have made or received over the years. Those that have moved out take them to hang in their own tree. Every ornament on my tree means something special!

December 12, 2017 at 4:19 am (7 years ago)In my family presents are opened on Christmas Eve, but in a procedure that can take hours. Everyone who’s giving a present to someone else in the family writes a short sentence on a small piece of paper with a number on it. E.g. ‘one small present from Linda to Mum’. On Christmas Eve all the papers are put in a little white satin bag and we sit in our living room and while listening to the same Nana Mouskouri songs every year each one by one gets a paper out of the bag, reads it out loud and then we start searching for the present with the matching number. When you opened it up and said thankd to who it came from, the next one can pick a piece out of the bag.
So it takes us hours to finish (because we have Christmas dinner and dessert inbetween) but I absolutely love it and want to handle it the same way, once I have children on my own.

December 12, 2017 at 4:51 am (7 years ago)Every year on the evening of Christmas Eve my siblings, parents and I all get into our pyjamas and watch Muppets Christmas Carol together whilst eating pork, stuffing and Apple sauce rolls. We’ve been doing it since we were children and now we’re in our 20s and no longer living together it makes it all the more special! We then trade gifts so that we can each open one present from a sibling that evening (leaving the rest for Christmas morning). Muppets Christmas Carol is also the only Christmas film my grumpy brother will watch so it means a lot!

December 12, 2017 at 5:32 am (7 years ago)Decorating the Christmas tree brings back so many memories. We have ornaments for many milestones in each of our family members lives. Including ornaments for pets who have passed away and special people we have lost or have moved away. December 12, 2017 at 5:43 am (7 years ago)My favorite tradition is decorating our tree with family ornaments collected over the years — my girls are both in their 40s now — and hanging their precious construction-paper-and-yarn kindergarten ornaments on the back of the tree. They make me hide them, but they look for them every year. 😉

December 12, 2017 at 6:02 am (7 years ago)Instead of the “traditional” Christmas dinner, each year we only eat food that starts with a certain letter! Sounds a little weird, because well it is! One year my Mom and Aunts were shopping and realized everything they were getting started with a certain letter – so they went with it. That was 5 years ago, and the tradition is strong. You have to get creative sometimes, but it makes food shopping so much fun!

December 12, 2017 at 6:40 am (7 years ago)My favorite tradition is our family gift exchange. My grandma started this tradition. She wraps a bunch of gifts and everyone gets to pick or steal kind of like white elephant. My mom carried this tradition on but sadly she just passed away at thanksgiving so not the baton has been passed on to my sister and I to keep the tradition alive!

December 12, 2017 at 6:43 am (7 years ago)Congrats Kelly!!
My favorite tradition was always Christmas Eve where we’d get to open one gift after we got home from church. Usually it was Christmas pajamas or a movie or book. Then we’d sit to listen to. The Night before Christmas and head to bed!
Now I Track Santa with NORAD and can’t fall asleep until he’s “passed” over my town. 🙂

December 12, 2017 at 10:44 am (7 years ago)It might be silly, but one of my more recent favorites is seeing my family’s pup open her Christmas gifts. She gets so excited that it’s Christmas and usually thinks almost every gift is for her. She hold the gift down with her and rips the paper off, and then she proceeds to prance off with her toy really excitedly. It brings lots of smiles and laughs to us all. 🙂

December 12, 2017 at 10:47 am (7 years ago)Christmas is just one of the things that light up my soul! Although, there is something special that we do every year. We donate a small set of Christmas candies to orphanages in India(where I’m from). It brings absolute joy just to see the cute little smiles on the cutest children you’ll ever see! We also do it for an Indian traditional festival called Onam.

The note explained that they “saw themselves in us” and wanted to share their tradition of hanging this ornament FIRST on the tree, before anything else. 28 years, four children and 14 moves later the tradition remains and is sacred to us, too! We have that same ornament and the note that came with it <3.

December 14, 2017 at 5:52 pm (7 years ago)Merry Christmas. My favourite Christmas Family Tradition began when we moved into our home 23 years ago. Every Christmas our family of 5 had a photo taken while we were sitting on the stairs, even though I heard a lot of groans about having them taken. Over the years this tradition has continued with the addition of spouses and grandchildren. One of my sons, the one that didn’t like having the photos taken the most, is sure to remind me that we need the “photo on the stairs” taken

December 18, 2017 at 3:02 am (7 years ago)Greetings from Sydney Australia
Growing up I’m Sydney Australia it is summer season. Our Christmas tradition -which still is to this day is making sure all presents were under the tree Christmas Eve then going to bed early. In the early hours of Christmas morning we would get up and someone would carve the ham (no we didn’t put it in the oven – it’s summer remember) and I would always have the first slice. After that breakfast was served : summer fruits (mangoes, watermelon cherries,) bacon and eggs, croissants etc then opening of presents. Once that was done we would all huddle into the car and go to either the beach, picnic at a parkland or go to a relatives house where the amount of food would be ridiculous. Bring greek we had enough food to feed the whole street and still have left overs. We don’t do turkey. We do hams, and usually lamb on a spit (although I never liked to see that. It made me sad). By night fall we would either go to another friend/relatives house for drinks or go home to where we’d groan about how tired we were and how much we ate.
Cheers Renee ?

December 18, 2017 at 7:19 am (7 years ago)My favorite Christmas tradition is going to Plant City on Christmas day and seeing my cousins and other family! My aunt and uncle own a strawberry farm so we always get to go picking which is a lot of fun! Also, all of the cousins participate in a secret santa. I’m so excited to see who I get this year!!

December 18, 2017 at 8:38 am (7 years ago)My favorite Christmas tradition is actually a dish. Growing up in a very Italian household, my Granny would make her spaghetti and meatballs recipe that was passed down to her from her family from Alia, a city in Sicily. It’s hands down the BEST meatballs and spaghetti you would ever try. Since she has passed away, we have been in charge of making her meatballs and spaghetti in her honor.

December 18, 2017 at 10:11 am (7 years ago)We have 2 traditions that are both very near and dear to my heart. The first is how for the past 22 years we have been going as a family to cut down the perfect Christmas tree. Now the kids are grown they cut down theirs too at the same time. The second is shopping for the perfect tree ornament for each of my kids, mom, sister, godchild and now my grandkids. When my children left home, they all left with a box of their childhood ornaments to start a new life with their own family. Funny how they seem to have carried on the tradition with their own children. I love Family ❤️

December 18, 2017 at 10:41 am (7 years ago)We started a new tradition for our family when we had our son last year. This year we will do it again with him and our daughter. We put jammies for the whole family, popcorn, hot coco, candy and a movie in a “Christmas Eve box.” We open it and have a family movie night and cuddle after evening service ❤️

December 18, 2017 at 10:39 pm (7 years ago)Our Christmas tradition was going to see Santa Claus every year. My 4 children went there until they were 18 year old. This year our last child went off to college. I created five Santa Photo albums. I went to see Santa and gave him the album. He absolutely loves it — he was the same Santa since I was pregnant with my first child. We’re going to give those albums to our children this Christmas. Now we are looking for new tradition.

December 19, 2017 at 4:24 am (7 years ago)We light a candle – we call it the memory candle- when we first get up. We take a moment to reflect on the people who can’t be with us at Christmas. It burns while we open gifts and have our Christmas dinner. We started doing this the year we lost my daughter’s father in June and her grandmother in October (rough year for a 6 year old).

December 19, 2017 at 6:07 am (7 years ago)The get-togethers with friends and family. Sometimes its after Christmas and into the new year because of all the family schedules that we have to coordinate but its worth it to spend it with these people, exchanging gifts, having dinner, and playing games.

December 19, 2017 at 7:31 am (7 years ago)I ??? this tradition – there are always 8 of us together – sometimes more. We each buy something for each other’s stockings. It is suppose to be small enough to fit into the stocking and it is so fun to see what people pick for each other – so creative and individualized. Favorite stocking stuffer? The year my 10-year-old twin brothers put their stuffers in last… a small bag with a gold fish in it!

December 19, 2017 at 12:06 pm (7 years ago)My favorite Christmas tradition is a fairly new one. We adopted 3 kids from foster care and they moved in just days before Christmas in 2014. As this is just our 3rd Christmas with them, our family tradition with them is to read the story of the birth of Jesus before we open – so they can remember why we celebrate. I LOVE this time with them! They’re an incredible blessing!

December 19, 2017 at 7:46 pm (7 years ago)Our family here in the Philippines has always had the tradition of gathering for the Christmas Eve meal with my husband’s side of the family and gathering for a Christmas Day breakfast of ham, hot rolls, hot coca, and the native rice cake oozing with butter on top with my side of the family. After breakfast on Christmas Day, we gather in the living room and my Mom would read out the names on the gifts. Everyone gets a gift and everyone is joyful. Since all of us are singers in the family…we sing Christmas hymns too.

December 20, 2017 at 6:41 am (7 years ago)My favorite tradition was one inspired by my sister and her family. Each year they each buy a couple ornaments per family member, signifying anything memorable from the year. It inspired me to start that with my husband. We have ornaments signifying big events such as our marriage, travel, getting our dog, getting more pets, moving, etc.

December 21, 2017 at 9:02 am (7 years ago)As a kid, my family NEVER had presents under the tree. They miraculously appeared under the tree on Christmas morning. I have continued this tradition and even though it’s just my husband and I, I wake up early and set up the presents under the tree so the first thing he sees is the surprise I always woke up to as a kid. That and the smell of a Cracker Barrel style hash brown casserole (prepped the night before) cooking in the oven.

December 21, 2017 at 12:38 pm (7 years ago)I always say “if you are going to learn to stamp and love Christmas learn then”. I love to stamp and Christmas just gives me more to stamp and I learned not to do the same design for all my cards. Crafting boxes just goes with that. After that spending time with the family altogether with really no time schedules for anyone is great.
