I’m Kelly Klapstein, also known as “Kelly Creates” online. I began my blog as a scrapbooker quite a few years ago, and taught paper crafting classes for a long time. I also write for Creative Scrapbooker magazine.

Almost 4 years ago, I picked up a brush pen and taught myself calligraphy and hand lettering. A new passion for pen and paper grew within me, and I quickly fell in love with this beautiful art form. Practicing calligraphy is a meditative and calming experience. Many people tell me how relaxed and focused they feel while working with pen and paper, laying down the ink onto a blank canvas and working on the technique to create thick and thin lines with a brush pen.

Fast forward to now….I have my own line of hand lettering products with American Crafts and also published a book called The Art of Brush Lettering one year ago! I can’t believe where 2018 has taken me… all over the world teaching calligraphy workshops.

I continue to develop new products with American Crafts under my Kelly Creates brand, and feel so blessed to say that my dreams have come true.

I find crochet very relaxing. I bought a calligraphy kit when I was 12 (over 30+ years ago!) and taught myself how to use nibs and ink. Life got in the way and I stopped doing beautiful writing. I just re-discovered the art of hand lettering when I seen one of your videos on Facebook. I’m extremely rusty as you can imagine! I bought myself some Crayola wide tips to re-start my journey. Thank you, Kelly for re-sparking my love for hand lettering.

So much inspiration here! I think I’m already subscribed by email, but when I entered my email address I got a weird message so not sure if I messed that up… anyway, I think I’ve followed you everywhere. I’m hoping to get inspired to get back to learning hand lettering. A goal for 2019… I love so many different forms of crafting. I make cards most often, but I started scrapbooking and still love to eek out a page here and there. I like to decorate my planner.. mixed media… crochet-yes..knitting-no-I can’t make a straight project…lol! … thanks so much for being a part of this hop and for the chance to win! And big congrats on your success!! Here’s to an even better 2019!

I like to try some (simple) bookbinding, cardmaking, handlettering, some knitting, … as well. Like everyone else I guess, I need some more time.

Together we took calligraphy lessons over 30 years, she taught me to embroider and for the last 14 years we scrapbooked and made cards together! Unfortunately my mom passed away in December and that has left a huge void in my life. I miss my crafting partner so very much! ♥️?

I love cardmaking and mixed media, both bring me so much joy and peace. My imagination takes me to wonderful places and I am able to put those thoughts and images into my projects. I don’t share many of them yet because I’m still a newbie and learning but I’m having so much fun doing it 🙂 Here’s to a beautiful, creative, blessed 2019!!

I love card making and coloring. When I was younger I dabbled in calligraphy but didn’t stick with it long enough to become sufficiently proficient. I’m thinking now that I’ve found your blog, my interest may just be rekindled!

I enjoy card making and hand lettering/calligraphy. I even made all my own Christmas cards this year using stamps, calligraphy, embossing powder and watercolor! A year ago I would have never imagined that I would enjoy doing that, but it was so fun and I really learned a lot. And hopefully the recipients of my cards appreciated them, too!

It’s hard to pick a single craft because there are so many that I love: knitting, sewing, card making, cross stitching, just general craftiness. But I think card making takes the cake because I can send the cards out to people and I know it will bring a smile to their face.

Watching your videos were really helpful, and made it easy to use these pens. I enjoy making cards too, and journaling and holiday scrapbooking is a definite go-to.
