To welcome in the month of December, it’s nice to have a festive monthly cover page in your bullet journal.  In this post, I’ll show you how to create a very simple but stunning cover page.

Kelly Creates Supplies:

First, using a pencil from the Kelly Creates Deluxe Lettering Kit, draw in the outline of a Christmas tree.  I’ve added a star on the top of the tree.  Yours doesn’t have to be exactly like this.

Next using Kelly Creates Multicolor Fineliners, draw random flowers within your outline.  I’ve gone with traditional Christmas colours, but feel free to use whatever colours you want.  Try to draw different flower shapes and sizes, and also add some leaves for variety.  This will add more interest to your final page.

After you’re happy with the number of flowers and leaves you’ve drawn, fill in the remaining white spaces with circles.  Try not to make them too small, you want your circles to have white space in them.

Once you’ve done that, you can carefully colour in the blank space around the flowers, leaves and circles.  Feel free to add more circles or flowers if you feel like the image needs it.  After that, you can use the same colour Fineliners to outline the drawing.  I’ve darkened my outline by going over the same lines with the same colour fineliner.

Complete your page by adding a mini calendar under the tree.  I can’t go past the festive season without adding some sort of sparkle into my bullet journal, so I decided to use a Silver Kelly Creates Jewel metallic brush pen to write the month “December”.  The great thing about these pens is you can just letter right over the top of your drawing with them.

Your Christmas tree is done!

If you don’t want to draw a Christmas tree, you can draw any shape you want instead.  How about, a star, or bells or Christmas baubles?

Thanks Rose for your wonderful tutorial! I have never tried an illustration and colouring technique like this. My December cover page is going to look beautiful!
