Colorful Ecoline Watercolor Brush Pens

If you want to try a big, juicy thick watercolor brush marker, then take a look at Ecoline. This European brand is available almost all over the world, and in Canada I can find them in Deserres art supply stores.

They come in 29 colours and this line also has liquid watercolors in 46 colours too, which is wonderful for either using on their own for painting or lettering or blending with the brush pens.

Because the brush tip of these markers is very thick, they are harder to control, and I find myself drawing much bigger letters to accommodate the curves and pressure transitions while brush lettering.

You can use the Ecoline brush pens on regular smooth cardstock, but because of the juicy output, the paper might warp. I found success with smooth watercolor paper or Bristol paper, like Canson or Strathmore.

Always test first with your paper too because sometimes the watercolors of these pens dries more like a paint than an ink unlike other water-based pens, especially at transitions and pressure changes. Sometimes the results are blotchy.
