My sketch and sample layout for the Spring 2015 issue (yes, I said SPRING) of Canadian Scrapbooker magazine is up and on the website.

I decided to sketch a grid design that can also be used by all the pocket page and Project Life scrapbookers. Actually, my friend Tasha inspired me because she now scrapbooks one 12 x 12 and one pocket page as her double layouts, so I incorporated this idea into my new sketch.

I used Heartfelt Creations “Celebrate the Journey” collection.

heartfelt journey

I think this collection is perfect for travel and trips, so I pulled out some older photos of my family’s European vacation from 7 years ago.  This layout has photos from our travel through Spain, one of my favourite destinations of that trip.

For embellishments, I simply cut out some patterned paper elements and layered them.

I used May Arts burlap string to unify the page design. My journal spots are tags cut from a piece of patterned paper in this collection too. I distressed and inked the edges of mostly everything.

I also cut out the title from another piece of patterned paper.

Like the title says, this trip definitely was a “Journey of a Lifetime.”

I hope you design a layout using my sketch and submit it to the magazine! Click HERE to visit the Submissions page at the Canadian Scrapbooker website.

Happy Crafting!

Thanks Kelly for creating this great sketch – perfect for all those vacation photos. It must have been fun looking back and reliving all the wonderful memories of the days when your children were shorter than you.
