The Beauty of Burlap

The Fall 2014 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker magazine is out, and it is awesome!

mag 1

I have an article in there called “The Beauty of Burlap.”

mag 2

In the next couple weeks, I’ll share some of my projects I created for this article.  Today, I’m sharing a layout and card I designed using Simple Stories “Homespun” collection.

Our good friends in Calgary have daughters who came to the University of Alberta to study.  So when I took fall photos of my children, I snapped some of our ‘foster daughters’ too. This is Julie.

I fussy cut some paper elements, like the typewriter and flowers, but the really cool embellishments are these Simple Stories DIY burlap stickers!

I also used burlap string from May Arts.

Here is a card using the same “Homespun” collection.

University is back in session, which means Julie is back in town. Her older sister Jean already finished her degree and moved back to Calgary.

I love the look of burlap on a layout or card, especially for Fall themes. It adds wonderful texture.

Happy Crafting!
