I always like to think of my lettering journey as an adventure! This week we will practice painting the word ‘Adventure’ in a block style.
When you are painting a quote, try leaving all letters black except for one or two key words. In this example, I painted only the word ‘adventure’ in a colourful rainbow of letters using all the Kelly Creates Watercolor Inks. I used the Kelly Creates black ink water brush to paint the words “let the” and “begin.”

You can paint right onto your printer paper or you can use tracing paper on top to practice painting with the template as your guide. I recommend my Kelly Creates Watercolor Lettering brushes and palette. The brushes are sizes 1-4 Round and are perfect for painting the letters. .
After you paint on the template, practice freehand on my special Kelly Creates Grid Practice Paper Pad. This heavyweight grid paper is designed specifically for practicing lettering with my Watercolor Inks.
To really improve your watercolor lettering skills, I highly recommend using my workbooks to practice. There is a script workbook, a block style alphabet workbook and a third workbook for words and phrases in a variety of styles.
