I have some exciting news to announce! I am taking over the Sketchy Gallery at the Canadian Scrapbooker magazine website! Every month, I will be designing a new single page sketch for you to try.  I hope you play along and upload your layouts into the Sketchy Gallery! We would love to see what you create!

Here is my August sketch:

These photos were taken on my July trip to Newfoundland to visit my dear friend Michelle Marks in Corner Brook.  The Rock is hands down one of the most beautiful places in Canada.   One of best experiences I had during my stay was going on a road trip and finding these icebergs with Michelle.  IMG_3132 IMG_3169

Michelle and I met up with Deidre Edison Clarke who lives in Springdale, and she took time out from her work day to meet us for lunch and a few photo ops!

And this was just PART of our day …and of my trip.  We went to Grand Falls where Michelle grew up and I met her wonderful parents. We visited the Falls and the Salmonid Centre, an interpretive centre where a massive salmon ladder is constructed.

Michelle’s sister Cathy gave us some salmon that day that her son and husband had caught the night before.  Fresh Atlantic salmon….YUM!

In Springdale, we stopped at Glassy Beach….which is overflowing with sea glass and beautiful stones and shells.

Bottle Cove was another highlight, a 45 minute day trip from Corner Brook.  My gosh…the landscape with rock and ocean was STUNNING.

See that in the distance?  West across the water?  A Newfoundlander would say “That’s CANADA.”  ha ha

The sites along the drive were fabulous too.  And we stopped at this awesome little gift shop.

Michelle made this visit so special.  It was hard to leave.  We probably won’t see each other again for at least another year. I feel at home and part of the family, and of course, adore their kitten Minnie, cat Cuddles, and newly adopted Jade.

What do you do when you catch an iceberg when iceberg hunting? Make snow cones! Glad you had a wonderful time!!

Did you find that beach with all the glass in Bottle Cove or near by York Harbour? We will be visiting in July and am hoping to bring home a few pieces of “The Rock” with me. Thanks!
