Today I am sharing the reason why I scrapbook and how it all started. Coincidentally, it all started with card stock!
When my daughter Serena was in kindergarten (12 years ago), she had an amazing teacher who asked parents to form a scrapbook committee and budgeted so each child would leave kindergarten with their own, personal 12 x 12 album. What an undertaking! So a few of us got together about once a week (or more near the end of the school year) and scrapbooked for each student. The teacher printed photos of everyone during special events and field trips, plus gave us paper to use.
Then I was hooked! I loved playing with paper and photos so much and quickly decided to start making my own children’s baby albums. With the encouragement of another friend who wanted to scrapbook regularly, we got together once a week and while our children played, we scrapbooked. At that time, my oldest was 8! So let me tell you, I sure envy those moms who started scrapbooking when they had babies and are able to stay caught up….or is that possible?
I suppose I have scrapbooking in my genes because my mother scrapbooked and always encouraged me to keep photos and memorabilia in albums. I am so blessed to have her treasured vintage albums as keepsakes now. And sometimes I duplicate photos for heritage pages.
For my layout today, I used lots of beautiful Bazzill card stock, along with a Pink Paislee line of papers called Bella Rouge.
I used my Brother ScanNCut for the white lattice, cherry blossom flowers, butterfly, and title. I drew the ‘hello’ and leaves myself, scanned and cut them. The butterfly is a cut file from http://www.svgcuts.com
Here are a few videos that show how I designed this layout with the ScanNCut. Bazzill card stock cuts beautifully!
