Today I thought I would share some fun design elements on one of my double layouts that I taught at Canadian Scrapbooker’s Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival in September. Simple Stories was one of the sponsors of my class, and I used 3 collections for 3 different layouts that I will share in upcoming posts. This Simple Set is called “Hey Pop.”
I just love these older photos of our son (and first born) Matthew with his dad, reading the newspaper. Matthew looked so intently at the newspaper with a serious expression, it seemed like he was reading it. ha ha
In the class, I taught how to use Viva Decor Inka Gold with a stencil. We altered the Bazzill kraft cardstock with these gold stars. Both Viva Décor and Bazzill/American Crafts sponsored the class too and gave us lots of product to work with. I am so grateful!
I made my own stars stencil using the Brother ScanNCut machine.
Here is a video that shows you how:

Another fun technique on this page was making these viewmasters using transparencies and stamping. I used a Graphic45 alphabet stamp and Staz-On on a Grafix Duralar acetate sheet.
I used Bazzill cardstock in ‘Vanilla’ and then inked the edges with Clearsnap Colorbox brown chalk ink.
The ScanNCut also came in handy for designing and cutting the viewmasters. Here is a free .fcm cut file you can use with the ScanNCut to cut your own viewmaster. Click on the image below to download.
I am now planning on making more of my own stencils with the ScanNCut….the design possibilities are endless!
Happy Crafting!
