Rachel has a super cute 3D tree tutorial for you today that you could add to your journal or even a Christmas card!
Can you believe that Christmas is around the corner? As a bullet journalist, I really want to make my Christmas weekly spread special to fit with the holiday spirit. In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a 3D Christmas tree weekly spread with a few simple steps. Personally, I love how this spread turned out, and I hope you will love it and make one of your own, too.
KELLY CREATES SUPPLIES: Black Fineliners, Deluxe Lettering kit, Metallic Jewel brush pens, Metallic Jewel Bullet Tip Pens, Travel Practice Journal Notebooks
Other Supplies: Adhesive (Tape Runner)
Step 1: First, let’s make the Christmas tree shapes: we will need 4 trees that are the exact same size. You can use any type and color of paper of your choice to make this. Here, I used white paper since I want to color and decorate it later. Let’s fold the paper in half then draw a simple Christmas tree shape as I did here. After that, cut it out by following the drawn line and you have a Christmas tree.
Step 2: Let’s decorate all the Christmas trees. I used the Kelly Creates metallic Jewel brush pens to add a touch of sparkle. Then I outlined all the tree shapes to add more dimension with Kelly Creates Black fineliner. Feel free to make it more unique because everyone’s preference is different.
Step 3: Now it’s time to make it 3D. Fold every Christmas tree in half again with the decorated sides facing inward. Use adhesive to stick them together, and then glue that 3D tree into the middle of your weekly spread pages. Try opening and closing the pages to check if the 3D tree unfolds. Voila! You are done with the 3D Christmas tree pop-up on your weekly spread.
Step 4: Let’s finish up the rest of the weekly spread by adding the dates and more Christmas decorations of your choice. I used the Kelly Creates black journal for the spread and gave it a dreamy Christmas Eve feel by adding some stars and ornaments.
Now you have a very special weekly spread just for Christmas. I would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
The black background takes this spread to a whole new level, as does that 3D tree! Thank you Rachel for making us think outside the box when it comes to our journals.
