Rachel Doan (@rachelbujo) is helping us get organized for 2019 with a beautiful floral Future Log in her Kelly Creates Creative Journal.

If you’re into bullet journals, you probably have heard of a future log before. It is a fun and easy way to create an at-a-glance one-year plan. As 2019 is quickly approaching (I know! I can’t believe Christmas is only 1 month away!), I think this would be a good time for a future log tutorial. This tutorial is very easy to follow and time-saving.

KELLY CREATES SUPPLIES: Deluxe Lettering kit, Creative Journal (Harmony), Stamp sets (Journal, Floral & Wreaths), Starlight Coloring Pencils (Plus, Black ink pad and stamp blocks)

Step 1: My future log usually takes up to 4 pages, but you can have fewer or more pages for your future log depending on how detailed your plan is. Here I divided each page into 3 even columns. Each column will represent a month of the year, and don’t forget to leave a few rows on top and bottom for the header and decoration. In this tutorial, I will show you how I make my future log for the first six months in 2019. I’m using Kellycreates Deluxe Lettering Kit for this step.

Step 2: Here’s where the magic happens! Use Kelly Creates Wreath stamps along the top of each column for the month headings.. I used two different wreaths to differentiate two consecutive months. I used the Calendar stamp set to stamp the month names inside the wreaths or you can write the month names inside  the wreaths with the Kelly Creates Fine black brush tip pen.

Step 3: Time to add the mini calendars. For this step I just used handwriting to write all the monthly calendars under the wreaths with the Kelly Creates black Fineliner size 01. You can also stamp the mini calendar grid with the Kelly Creates Calendar stamp set. Just make sure that your mini calendar is accurate.

Step 4: You can stop there if you’d like a more minimalistic look, but I like to have a few more flowers here and there to make the future log look more interesting. Here I used Kelly Creates Floral stamps to imprint the beautiful flowers along the bottom of the pages.

Step 5: Let’s do final touch up to the future log. I colored with the Kelly Creates Starlight pencils to create more dimensions to the flowers. These are beautiful metallic colouring pencils that colour and blend nicely on both light and dark paper. When decorating your future log, don’t forget to leave enough space for your planning under the calendar.

What do you think of the final look? I personally love how I could use those stamps to save time and still create an amazing looking future log. Hope you find this tutorial useful and it helps you get organized for 2019!

Thank you Rachel for helping me get organized for 2019… I need all the help I can get!

I don’t personally do the bullet journal thing, but I do love stamping, coloring and planning/organizing. Rachel this looks great, and it is a great way to save time when designing your own pages. Someday, I might be convinced enough to try the bullet journal. Thanks for the tutorial.
