seasons givings blog hop 2017 kellycreates

Welcome to my blog! I am Kelly Klapstein, and many of you might know me as a scrapbooker and paper crafter who writes for Creative Scrapbooker magazine.  You also might know me as KellyCreates on Instagram  where I share my work as a calligrapher and hand lettering artist. I am passionate about putting pens to paper and enjoy the calming and meditative art of brush lettering, but most of all, I love to teach workshops around the world.

I am so thankful to be a part of this big, beautiful community of creatives who share all of their designs and ideas with us on their blogs and websites! A big shout out to Latisha Yoast who organizes this hop every year where you can win a TON of creative goodies to keep you happy in the New Year.

Seasons Givings, blog hop, prize, giveaway, pens, book, The Art of Brush Lettering, Learn Calligraphy with the new Kelly Creates pens from American Crafts
PRIZES: The Art of Brush Lettering instructional book, Kelly Creates Learn Brush Lettering workbook, Kelly Creates practice paper pad, Kelly Creates Dream Pens (dual tipped brush pens), 3-pack variety of black brush tip pens.

My prize package is all about calligraphy and lettering because I am celebrating two exciting milestones in my creative journey:

1. I wrote a book called The Art of Brush Lettering and it was published just last month (Dec 2017)! It can be found in all bookstores and online, and I’m so happy to announce that it is also being translated into German, Dutch, French, Finnish, and Swedish.

2. I have developed a line of lettering products with American Crafts, and they can now be found in Michaels stores and other retailers around the world (available Jan 2018)!

2017 has been an incredible adventure for me, and I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!

If you would like to stay in touch with me, you can subscribe to my blog and monthly email newsletter (the subscription boxes are on the right if you’re on a computer or scroll down on your mobile phone). I also have a Facebook page called Kelly Creates Studio (click HERE) and a really active and inspirational Facebook Group called “Kelly Creates Art & Calligraphy” (click HERE).   As well, you can join me on Pinterest (click HERE), and you can watch my YouTube tutorials by clicking HERE where you can subscribe and not miss any new videos.

Attending a workshop is always the best way to learn, but if you can’t do so, then pick up my book and download and print my worksheets. Grab a brush pen and you’re ready to learn! For beginners I recommend Bundle 1 or Bundle 2, and you can click HERE to see what’s in my Shop.  Bouncy lettering worksheets are popular too!

To be eligible to win, please leave a comment on this post telling me about how you express your creativity in your life. The contest will be closed on January 5, 2018 and a winner will be announced on January 8, 2018.

Next on your hop, you can visit Latisha Yoast  at http://www.crafteebee.blogspot.com by clicking HERE. Or you can follow the order below by clicking on the names that are links too. Happy Hopping, good luck and Happy New Year!

I love creating original products as birthday gifts. I seldom mass produce cards, I’d rather create something that suits the recipient. There’s nothing better than a personal touch.

I express my Creativity through my Bullet Journal. I use a dotted Leuchtturm 1917 A5 journal with Tombows, Mildliners, Triplus Fineliners and soon, Kelly’s Dream Pens and Metallic Pens. I pre-ordered ‘The Art of Brush Lettering’ on Amazon.ca as soon as it was announced and I’m looking forward to delving into it early in 2018. I will also try to find the new workbooks from American Crafts and Kelly Creates. I’m not a very talented artist but I look forward to improving my lettering and penmanship through my new book.

What a generous prize, I always admired calligraphy and always wanted to learn. The hesitation so far is it looks difficult and sometimes I have such the bad shakes in hands because of my disease. Not sure if I will be able to do it, sometimes I am just to hard on myself. I just need to jump rate in a take a chance, so it would be great to possibly win a prize like this. As to your question how do I express creativity in my life. I love little of everything, but not a master of anything. I love to colour, draw, paint, scrapbook, journal, mix media, card making, cross stitch. Like I said little of everything, however, I need to be more proud of what I do and display it. According to my family I need to sign my name to my art pieces when I give them away as gifts. I don’t really know why I do that. However I need to embrace that part of myself more and share it more with the people I love. Thanks for the chance to possibly win a prize, take care. Kari

Then as I was doing some research for the best pens on you tube I believe I ran across some of your videos, and I couldn’t stop watching them I wanted to run out and buy everything right then. I took a year of Calligraphy in high school, my senior year. I remember most of what I learned, but since I only had one year, we didnt get into the fancy writing. I really wish I had taken more years of it!I would LOVE to learn more of it, but there arent really any places to take that type of class. Your book may be just the thing I need to learn some fancy writing! I HATE my own handwriting!

My New Years crafty tradition is to to learn one new technique per month and to share this in my monthly ‘Build Your Stash’ class, where I encourage others to share their new ideas. I do this card making class for all the events in our lives. We have all created a beautiful ‘box’ where we store our ‘Stash’ cards so that they are easy to find when an event comes up. I love being surrounded by my friends and family and helping each of them to keep their passion for paper crafting alive in their hearts! This is how I express my creativity!

Hi Kelly! My mom taught me to craft when I was 10 and we made many of our gifts for friends and family. Crafting has been a staple in my life from sewing to painting on things or furniture refinishing and now, stamping and die cutting. I enjoy it so much more that the other crafts and I think it’s because it’s on a small scale and you can produce more without limitations and have immediate gratification. I’m a super shopper and I enjoy searching for product too! So much sometimes it gets in the way of crafting, which demands organization! LOL. I gift the things I make for family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and people in the community that serve me, etc. I will check out your videos. Wouldn’t we all love to do our own lettering! Thanks so much.

I have been a card maker for nearly 2 decades, and learned calligraphy from a friend when I was 12. I have always been drawn to elegant printing and fonts, and would like to learn to brush letter (mostly just for addressing cards more beautifully). I just can’t seem to master the “heavy down” stroke and “light upward” strokes, and it’s so frustrating. Perhaps I’ll make it a goal to practice more in 2018!

I’m a writer, so I express a lot of my creativity in words, but I also love crafting of nearly all sorts, and I do enjoy writing letters to friends and attempting different types of lettering on the envelopes. I have very distinctive handwriting so it’s particularly fun to do something different when I can. I also like plannering, which you can see on my Instagram page (look for scrappyrat if you have some time to kill. :)) Oh! And my animals! I love taking photos of my pets, others’ pets, and wildlife when I can. I also like to make up songs to sing to my animals. I know, it’s goofy, but it seems to make them happy.

I try to live a creative life daily. I got into brush lettering because I make homemade sunscreen for my kid. I’ve don’t this since they were infants and I now give out loads to people each summer. I wanted the label to look unique and pretty, so I hand letter each one. It’s pretty cool. Thanks for all the inspiration!

Due to my age (22) I cop some flack for being into knitting, but they promptly stop when I give them a warm beanie or scarf at the start of winter so they can rug up.
