Today on my blog, Rachel Doan (@rachelbujo) shares her bullet journal secrets for drawing a perfect circle mood tracker...plus a very pretty floral design!
I often receive questions about how I am able to draw such even circular mood trackers, and every time I post these trackers, everyone seems to like them a lot. So I decided to create this tutorial and share with all of you the method that I always use to draw them. It is actually very easy to do with a bow compass, Kelly Creates Fineliners, a ruler, and of course, your journal. The Kelly Creates Fineliner fits nicely into the holder of the compass. This way you don’t have to use a pencil or trace and erase.
Step 1: Use a bow compass to draw 2 concentric circles, one is smaller than the other. Divide the circles into 4 equal sections that look like 4 pies (see pink lines). After that, divide each pie into 2 equal sections (see green lines). You will have a total of 8 equal sections.
Step 2: Continue to divide these 8 sections in half (see pink lines). You will have 16 equal sections now.
Step 3: Keep dividing the 16 sections in half. Now you have 32 even sections, which represent 31 days in the month and one left blank space for you to write the month’s name. If a month has only 30 days (or 28 in Feb), you can always merge extra sections together to write the month’s name.
That is it! You don’t need to calculate anything at all. Feel free to decorate it any way that you like, both outside and inside the circle. Here is a simple tutorial on how I draw flowers to add to the mood tracker. After drawing with the Black Fineliners, I coloured in the flowers with Kelly Creates Dream Pens “Sunshine” and “Sunset”.
I really like having a circular mood tracker that is functional and artistic! Hope you find this mood tracker tutorial helpful!
