Learn how to make this adorable coffee theme fabric banner with hand lettering and pens with Bonnie Peters on www.kellycreates.caHere is Bonnie Peters ( @diamondandwillow) with a really cute fabric home decor project:

I made a simple banner out of muslin fabric, but you can purchase a ready-made one or use any tightly woven fabric to letter on.   I used Kelly Creates Black Fineliners size 05 and 10  and the ‘Storm’ grey colour for the shadows from the Multicolor Fineliners set.

I begin with a pencil sketch to plan my design. (You can use the Kelly Creates Practice Pads for sketching your designs). Then I used a marker over the pencil to see if I might need to adjust the spacing of the lettering before being traced onto the banner. **The Kelly Creates Deluxe Lettering kit has a Drawing pencil, eraser, ruler, Fineliners, and brush pens**

I use a light box to see my design through my fabric and trace it on with pencil.
You can hold your piece over a sunny window to create your own light box for tracing if you don’t have one.

I placed a card stock paper between my banner layers so that the marker did not bleed through my second fabric layer, as well as to help create a firm background when you begin applying marker pressure.

You’re ready to choose your marker and colour to outline your piece. Be careful not to smudge your letters as you work. It takes a little extra time for it to dry than when using paper.

Slow and steady as you go along, using small strokes until you are comfortable. I suggest testing on a scrap piece of fabric first to make any necessary changes you might need.
