I have a new Double the Fun sketch and sample layout on the Canadian Scrapbooker magazine website. Give it a try and remember to submit your layout for publishing in the Winter 2014 issue.
Here is the sketch:
And here is my layout:
I used the Simple Stories “Homespun” collection.
The background papers are Bazzill and I used a Crafter’s Workshop chicken wire stencil with some Clearsnap White Ink to add interest.
For sparkle, I outlined a lot of the little hearts here and there with red Stickles.
The Family title is cut from the patterned paper, and I glittered a red 3D Foam Heart from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L in the middle of the “A” letter.
I just love the sweet patterns in this collection and think it’s perfect for my family reunion photos. I’m tempted to make an entire album. That reunion was a wonderful experience. It was so good for my city kids to spend time out on the farm in the country, playing horseshoes, having potato sack and 3-legged races….
Yes, that is my Aunt, Sister Victoria from Toronto, throwing a horseshoe!
My cousin Adela and I are far left, white and black capris, attempting the 3-legged race. We were pretty good!
My younger guy cousins were pretty competitive in the potato sack race….and the baseball game.
My cousin Lorne was in charge of the “mud” for the mudding of the homestead. The mixing of the mud and hay was accomplished by a bunch of bare feet and stomping around.
The younger cousins were really into this technique…
I think it’s so important that these younger generations have an experience of family history that makes it real for them and they can understand how hard their great great grandparents worked to make a life as Ukrainian immigrants in Canada.
Hope you enjoy the sketch…
Happy Crafting!

June 18, 2014 at 9:33 am (10 years ago)Wow, Kelly! This is one of my favourite posts ever. The blue cardstock reminds me of the big Alberta summer sky and the chicken wire stencil lends the perfect homespun accent. The photos perfectly captured all the fun of a family reunion, although most families can’t boast of a horseshoe-tossing nun. Well-done!

June 20, 2014 at 8:22 am (10 years ago)What a wonderful layout! This is the reason I scrapbook. I try to put things from my past down on paper so my family will not forget. You have done this so well, it’s pretty and full of sentiment.
