Have all of you joined in the fun over at the Canadian Scrapbooker website?  The first EVER Sketchy Challenge is now on…and you have until September 30 to submit your layout!

Here is the sketch, designed by Jill Sarginson….
Awesome sketch!!! Thanks Jill!

And here is my layout based on the sketch….

3 teens + 1 tween = disastrous photo shoot

And these were only three of the many MANY photos I took that Fall afternoon last October.  Sigh.

If you’re wondering, the “fourth” child in the black hoodie is my nephew who lives with us part time.

Also, if you’re wondering what BoyGenius is yelling and gesturing about…..a car is driving by, so he is yelling, “Hey, whatta ya looking at?!?!?”  Yep.  Classic teen behavior.  Lucky me.

I decided to use their “vernacular” for the title….not that they’d know what the word “vernacular” means…but if you make a mistake or do something poorly, the teens say “FAIL”.

Thus, my appropriate teen title is “Fall Fail”.  Instead of thinking of myself failing as a photographer, I’d rather think of my teens failing as subjects 🙂

And so, my layout design was born!

These adorable papers, chipboard, stickers and die cuts are all from the new Bella Blvd. “Finally Fall” collection.  The black sticker alpha used in the “Fall” part of the title is Harmonie.   I have to tell you, designing a cute layout with a fun collection like this without using ANY techniques was a refreshing change of pace for me.

The leaves are turning and the temperatures are cooler now, and you know what that means?  I have to start planning my annual Fall photo shoot….maybe this time without the teens 🙂

This is such a fun fall page. A delight! Your description of how this layout came about really made me smile. Indeed, the “fail” part of the title certainly and rightfully belongs to the teens! We moms have to stick together.

I think a fall pic of Kelly and hubby might be in order, esp now that BoyGenius is driving and BabyoftheFamily is fast becoming a teen and DramaQueen is surely going to resist a family photo shoot….

I love this Bella Blvd collection. You used the chipboard in such cute ways. I picked up a bit of this line the other day. Loved BB’s fall line last year too. Wonderful work, Kelly.

Funny funny! Love that the “Fail’ is all off kilter Kelly…it adds to the chaotic feeling of this LO. Great take on the sketchy challenge! and you’re right …sometimes it really is a relief to do a Lo that’s not all technique heavy. Great LO!!!

Such a cute layout Kelly. It is ironic that the photos are the stars of a layout about the trials of getting a “good” photo. Love the papers (especially the wood grain) and the fun embellishments. What a good mom you are to include the hearts!

Great layout! I love your trees and the photo’s crack me up just thinking about the entire process! I can relate when trying to do photoshoots of my sisters kids…someones always mad and NO ONE ever pays attention to the photographer!!! Definitely the fault of the subjects not the photographers. 🙂

I love that you took not so perfect photos, and turned them into a perfect layout! A sense of humor is a must for those of us with teens, and I love yours!

Super cute LO Kelly! Too funny! I have many photos like those, but somehow I never think to scrap them! I did see the Sketch contest, but I’m not sure I”ll have time this month to enter anything. Hope you do well though!

Years from now you’ll remember that day for it’s imperfect perfection, much better than some stuffy posed photo anyway! The placement of all the pps is so perfect and that’s not easy!
